Momos Chutney Recipe | How to make Spicy Momos Chutney | How to make market style Red Momos Chutney

Vegetable Momos or any other momos are best enjoyed with Spicy Momos Chutney. Going by the name, it does not restrict its usage to Momos only. It can be relished well with any other food item that you want to pair it up with. Be it Pakora, Paratha or Idli and Dosa as well. There are no rules in eating as far as you enjoy it dil se 🙂

My hubby and I both are avid food lovers. It is his companionship that lets me try and experiment with the flavours. Sometimes it’s the time constraint that leads to another creative angle to the same food.

Having said that, I would like to share Momos Chutney Recipe the way I love to make and really enjoy it. I have lived in Delhi during my MBA and Corporate Days. Momos are a staple street food in every nook and corner of the city. There was a famous Momos-Uncle who lovingly shared his supremely hit Chutney Recipe with me. Now sharing the Two Varieties of the market style Red Momos Chutney.

Variant 1: Very Spicy Chilli Garlic Chutney

I make this when I am short of time as it is mess free and takes no time to be prepared.


  • 2 Dry Red Chillies
  • 6 to 7 Garlic Cloves
  • White Vinegar
  • Salt as per taste


  • Grind together the chilli and garlic cloves using little water as required.
  • Add salt as per requirement and add to it some water to make it a smooth thick paste.
  • Now comes the ‘Secret Ingredient’- White Vinegar. Add 1 tsp initially and mix well. Check the taste and add more vinegar if required.
  • Voilaaa!! It’s Done 🙂 So Simple. Right
  • Trust me when I say that Vinegar is the Secret Ingredient. Try it yourself to know why 🙂
  • Transfer it into a serving bowl and enjoy with Vegetable Momos or any other Momo or any other food item that you wish to.

Variant 2: Spicy Tomato Garlic Momos Chutney

This is the spicy and tangy momos chutney. It is well suited for people who have mild spice tolerance.


  • 3 dry red chillies
  • 2 medium sized ripe tomatoes
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 4 to 5 small garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • ½ tsp light soya sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt to taste


  • Boil tomatoes and red chillies in approximately 3 cups of water.
  • Once tomatoes start shedding their skin, switch off the flame. Let it cool completely and come to room temperature.
  • Now remove the skin of tomatoes.
  • In a blender add peeled tomatoes, red chillies, ginger and garlic. Blend it into a smooth paste.
  • Add to it Soya Sauce, Vinegar, Sugar and Salt as per requirement.
  • Give it a final mix and blend to form a smooth paste.
  • Spicy Tomato garlic Momos Chutney is ready.
  • Transfer it into a serving bowl and enjoy with Vegetable Momos or any other Momo or any other food item that you wish to.
